Cars Without Headlights
in this dark slipstream, waiting
the rear-view a silence
so thick it has its own language.
placeholders
in silhouette.
a map vacated.
wanderlust. or streetlight echoes
in flashes
of red paint.
this is where you settle.
each hovering bird
a whisper in the evening
as light fades, its shape:
panther skin or
shadows __ roosting
on hood ornaments
like hungry questions.
